Patent Search Committee

This Committee will examine topics and analytic tools and related resources from different perspectives that enrich the craft of patent information searching and educate IPO members on availability, applicability, and use of such resources. In the near term, special focus will be given to the state of AI as it pertains to patent-related searching and patent information. These initiatives will be documented in publications that describe guidelines for different types of searches and reports (e.g., patentability, invalidity, infringement, freedom-to-operate/right to practice, competitive patent landscape, due diligence, patent expiration). In addition, the Committee will seek opportunities to provide feedback to the major patent offices/authorities, including but not limited to the USPTO, EPO, and WIPO, on their call for comments on searching platforms and related products and initiatives. The Committee will also collaborate with other IPO committees on common/shared interests/projects.
