RESOLVED, that IPO supports that the Canadian Government should take immediate and active steps to eliminate potential exposure by patentees in Canada to treble damages under the UK and Ontario Statutes of Monopolies because such exposure will: (i) have a significant chilling effect on the desirability of patenting new and useful inventions in Canada; and (ii) negatively impact research and innovation in Canada.
