SENATE JUDICIARY COMMITTEE TO HOLD HEARING ON CHINA’S IP THEFT

The Senate Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing titled “Stealth Stealing: China’s Ongoing Theft of U.S. Innovation” on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at 10:15 a.m. in Room 216 of the Hart Senate Office Building. SENATE APPROPRIATIONS SUBCOMMITTEE TO REVIEW FY 2027 COMMERCE DEPARTMENT BUDGET

The Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies will hold a hearing on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in Room 192 of the Dirksen Senate Office Building to review the President’s fiscal year 2027 budget request for the Department of Commerce. The House Committee on Ways and Means will hold a full committee hearing on the Trump Administration’s 2026 trade policy agenda on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in Room 1100 of the Longworth House Office Building. U.S. Trade Representative JAMIESON GREER will testify. Trade policy intersects with IP protection through U.S. trade agreements and enforcement mechanisms, including Special 301 proceedings. IPO TO CELEBRATE WORLD IP DAY ON APRIL 29

In 2000 the World Intellectual Property Organization’s member states designated April 26 as World IP Day, with the aim of increasing general awareness and understanding of IP. This year’s theme is “Sports and IP: Ready, Set, Innovate.” IPO will cosponsor an event on Capitol Hill on April 29, 2026 from 4-7pm ET, to celebrate World IP Day. Join IPO and partner organizations either virtually or in-person on Capitol Hill, Washington, DC, to learn about the role IP rights play in encouraging innovation and creativity. The event is free to attend. However, advance registration is required.
